Lee County VINELink Releases

Lee County has a local VINELink layer that is more specific than a generic state landing page. The Lee County District Attorney resources page says the District Attorney and the Lee County Sheriff's Office teamed to bring VINELink to the county. The local description says the system gives near-real-time updates on offender status in the Lee County Jail and other Alabama detention facilities. That makes VINELink the public alert channel for a person who may leave the W.S. "Buck" Jones Detention Center by bond, court order, time served, transfer, or another custody change.

VINELink is not a court disposition and not a copy of the sheriff's prisoner book. A notification can tell a user that the custody status changed, but the official release trail for a Lee County jail detainee still runs through the Lee County Sheriff's Office records process, the jail release record required by Alabama law, and the Lee County Circuit Clerk or Alacourt case record when the legal reason matters. If a person leaves the active jail roster and VINELink shows a release or transfer, reconcile that status with the sheriff or court before treating the event as final.

Alabama VNS Release Scope

The state prison notification path is different. Alabama VNS is for offenders convicted in Alabama and sentenced to Alabama Department of Corrections custody. The VNS site directs users with cases that have not gone to trial back to the sheriff in the county where the crime occurred. For Lee County, that distinction matters. Confirm Lee County Release Alerts

A Lee County VINELink result should be checked against the record holder that controls the type of custody. The county jail path begins with the Lee County Sheriff's inmate search to see whether the person remains in active custody. If the person is gone from the active roster, that absence is only a lead. VINELink may show a custody change, but the sheriff's prisoner record is the source for the order and date of release. For court action, use the Lee County Circuit Clerk and Alacourt ACCESS.

1. Search VINELink Alabama by first and last name, then narrow by available identifiers such as agency, age, date of birth, or custody details.
2. Open the matching custody record and read the listed agency. Lee County jail custody should point back to the sheriff's release record if an official date is needed.
3. If the status shows release or transfer, compare it with the active jail roster, Recent Arrests booking context, and the court case.
4. If the person moved to state prison, search ADOC and use Alabama VNS for state-prison status notices.
5. If the person moved to federal or immigration custody, use BOP, ICE ODLS, USMS, federal court, or counsel rather than Alabama VINE alone.

A records request should be specific. Ask the Lee County Sheriff's Office for the prisoner intake-and-release record for the named person, including booking date, NameID if known, charge, commitment order and date, release order and date, and receiving agency if the event was a transfer. Register Lee County Notifications

Keep the registration information in a place where it can be found again, because VINE-style phone notices may require confirmation that the call was received.

Alabama VNS has a separate registration path for ADOC-sentenced offenders. Its site notes that a new website was released in March 2024 and that users registered in an earlier version need to register again. That warning is important for Lee County state-prison releases. A person who once had a VNS account may not receive a current ADOC notice unless the registration was updated in the newer system.

Custody status

Transfer
